Choose a quiet, comfortable spot where you feel relaxed — it could be your living room, a cozy corner, or even outdoors. ?
Start with deep belly breaths. Inhale deeply, hold for a few seconds, and exhale slowly. Do this 3-5 times to relax your body and mind.
Laughter therapy often starts with intentional laughter. Yep, fake it! Start with a soft chuckle, then let it build into a hearty laugh. The more you laugh (even if it's forced), the more natural laughter will feel. Try to make it contagious — laugh with others if you can! ?
Here are some fun ones to try:
The Silent Laugh:
Pretend you're laughing, but keep it silent. Focus on the physical movements — your body will start to feel lighter! The Mirror Laugh:
Stand in front of a mirror and laugh at your reflection. It’s harder to take yourself seriously when you see how silly you look! Or even how terrific you look!Laughing Yoga:
Combine laughter with yoga poses if yoga is your thing. Stretch, breathe, and giggle your way through it!Watch a Funny Comedy:
TV show or movie you think you will like (use a website like “Rotten Tomatoes,” to help make sure you find something that suits you). You can even try watching some comedians on Youtube® or Instagram®. This is how author Norman Cousins helped to cure his cancer as he revealed. After 5-10 minutes of laughter therapy, notice how you feel! Your body will release endorphins, lowering stress and anxiety while increasing feelings of happiness and relaxation. ?
The more you laugh, the easier it becomes to use laughter as a tool for healing. Try starting your day with a few minutes of laughter therapy or schedule a "laughter break" during the day to reset.
