My son is 8months old and has severe plagio and torticollis

My son was born with severe plagiocephaly caused by torticollis. I am not sure what the true cause is. When I was pregnant I was kicked in the stomach by some other girls and had some damage to myself and the baby. He does not have any mental problems so far he is actually quite smart, but I do not want that to change because of the shape of his head. The back of his left side is extremely flat and is now misshaping the front of his head. He has a hard time turning to the right and has a hard time holding his head up when he is on his stomach, while doing this you can see the tight muscles in his neck and back. He has been seeing a physical therapist since January but it seems to be only helping somewhat. Will this condition cause him to develope differentlty? Will his brain be able to grow correctly? Will this affect his nerves and muscles? Will the treatment be painful for him? And how often do you come to Colorado to do treatments, if you even do at all? Or do you know any other good doctors I can take him to? Will his medicaid pay for your treatments? If not can I do a treatment plan? Thank You so much for your time I greatly appreciate it, haven't received any help from anyone else except one massage therapist.

My son was born with severe plagiocephaly caused by torticollis. I am not sure what the true cause is.

[Dean Howell, ND] The torticollis and plagiocephaly have common cause—the distortion of the structure.

When I was pregnant I was kicked in the stomach by some other girls and had some damage to myself and the baby.

[Dean Howell, ND] Ow! That must have hurt!

He does not have any mental problems so far he is actually quite smart, but I do not want that to change because of the shape of his head.

[Dean Howell, ND] The unusual shape of his head leads to abnormal flow of cerebrospinal fluid and abnormal delivery of neurotransmitters. Which area(s) of the brain that are effected is determined by the shape of the skull. His intelligence may or may not be affected by his irregularly shaped head, or his personality may or may not be effected.

[Dean Howell, ND] The physical therapy is not treating the cause of the condition

Will this condition cause him to develope differentlty?

[Dean Howell, ND] yes

Will his brain be able to grow correctly?

[Dean Howell, ND] Maybe

Will this affect his nerves and muscles?

[Dean Howell, ND] Yes

Will the treatment be painful for him?

[Dean Howell, ND] Somewhat

And how often do you come to Colorado to do treatments, if you even do at all?

[Dean Howell, ND] I come to Boulder three times a year.

Or do you know any other good doctors I can take him to? Will his medicaid pay for your treatments?

[Dean Howell, ND] No

If not can I do a treatment plan?

[Dean Howell, ND] Yes. Call my office at 888-252-0411 and DeeDee can arrange a payment plan and a low-income discount.

Thank You so much for your time I greatly appreciate it, haven't received any help from anyone else except one massage therapist.
